The ongoing Balenciaga’s It’s Different campaign slogans emulate the spirit of deconstruction that is at the core of its design process and visual ethos. Some compositions play off flagrant appropriations of known corporate slogans, that are reclaimed through purposefully irreverent wording.
Others explore a more poetic, post-modern tone that speaks to the archetypes of ‘warped ordinary’ that are depicted in the object-centric imagery. The juxtaposition of high/low, emotional/pragmatic language charges each object with a playful/thoughtful voice that can be developed freely over time.
